Biking & walks

After a superb night in the trees, come back with your feet on the ground and enjoy the paths in the surrounding nature. The estate is located in the heart of the 3 magnificent forests of Halatte, Ermenonville and Compiègne. You may be lucky enough to see a big deer!

Attention, the paths of the domain are not all open for walks for safety reasons.

DOMAINE DE RARAY

  • Raray Castle: A jewel of classical architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries, it was the setting for the movie “Beauty and the Beast” by Jean Cocteau in 1946. Classified as a historic monument since 1924, several major lineages have succeeded one another as lords of the place. The representations can be seen on the two sculpted porticos framing the main courtyard of the castle composed of 38 hunting dogs, a deer and a wild boar. The Castle is not open to visitors and cannot be rented for events.
  • Tennis : Free tennis court. Racket rental : €4.
  • Golf : On the 165 hectares of the estate of Raray, it will meet the desires of experienced players as well as beginners with its 2 courses: La Licorne and Le Daguet. More information: click here or call 03 44 54 70 61.

The restaurant on the estate has been given a new look: La Verrière welcomes you from Wednesday to Monday (closed on Tuesday) from 8:30 to 18:00 (19:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays).

In an elegant and timeless atmosphere, enjoy a delicious sharing board, beef tartare or even fish & chips. This warm and welcoming space is also ideal for working: a coworking space with Wifi is available.

The restaurant has an indoor room as well as an outdoor terrace to enjoy the exceptional setting that surrounds you.

The Château de Chantilly, surrounded by its vast parks and home to the prestigious Condé Museum, is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. This jewel of French heritage, rebuilt in the 19th century, fascinates with its interiors, its majestic stables and its enchanting park.

COMPIÈGNE: AN IMPERIAL SETTING (30 min)
Historic city in the Oise department, Compiègne shines with its rich cultural heritage
and its key role in the history of France, especially as a royal residence. The Château de Compiègne, former home of French kings and emperors, embodies the elegance of classical architecture. Today, it houses museums dedicated to history and decorative arts, offering a fascinating dive into the past.

PIERREFONDS (30 min)

Located in the Oise, this village in Hauts-de-France is a true jewel of regional history. Its 14th century fortress and its remarkable remains bear witness to this. The Castle of Pierrefonds, built in the 14th century and then restored in the 19th century by Viollet-le-Duc, is a masterpiece of French neo-Gothic architecture, embodying in itself all the greatness of this era.

GERBEROY (1h15)

With its colorful half-timbered houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries and its cobbled streets, Gerberoy seems frozen in a distant era. Its numerous gardens, which have earned it the title of flowery city, add to its unique charm. Wagon & Armistice Museum (30 min): Dedicated to the memory of the two Armistices of 1918 and 1940, the Armistice Clearing Memorial is an essential place of memory and education.

Notre Dame d'Ourscamp abbey (40 min) : Of this 12th century abbey, only majestic ruins remain, rising up into the sky. The site, of striking beauty, invites the visitor on a journey through the centuries, recounting a fascinating history. Founded on a first stone laid in 641 by the future Saint-Éloi, advisor to King Dagobert, the abbey is surrounded by legends. It is said that Saint-Éloi tamed a bear, thus giving its name to Ourscamp, the “bear field”. Myth or reality? This bear is now an integral part of the mystery that surrounds this place.

The Etang des Aulnes in Longueuil-Sainte-Marie (20 min) : A peaceful spot for fishing, picnicking, and relaxing by the water.

The Sacy Marshes (20 min): Extending over more than 1,000 hectares, the Sacy Marshes form the largest humid and peaty area in Oise. This site of exceptional ecological and heritage wealth is home to a multitude of remarkable animal and plant species, making this place a real treasure of biodiversity.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau Park in Ermenonville (20 min) : An 18th-century English park, offering picturesque landscapes and walking paths inspired by Rousseau's philosophy.

Horseback riding (15 min) : The Marais Equestrian Center offers one-hour walks in the Compiègne forest for beginners to advanced riders.

The sandy sea (20 min) : Enjoy an experience in the heart of the Wild West through its 3 worlds. It's up to you to choose! Rather The Mississippi Valley, The Colorado Canyon, or The New Mexico Desert?

WORKSHOPS WITH OUR PARTNERS

Food and beer pairing (25 min) : tasting of local beers. Discover the EGUA brewery, which specializes in creating craft beers. These are specially designed to make food and beer pairings. More information.

Brewing workshop (25 min) : CERVUS (Ecol'aux mousses) offers brewing workshops (4 hours). You will thus be able to make your own brewed beer and come and collect them after manufacture. Gift vouchers are also available, to surprise your loved ones. More information.

Pastry workshop (8 min) : Virginie from Passion Pâtisserie offers workshops that last an average of 2.5 hours. The little extra: you leave with your production! The workshops are on Saturday (depending on the presence in store until the end of June) or Wednesday — 49€/person. More information.

Pastis and gin distillation workshop (1h45) : The VAUBAN distillery makes you discover a world apart with its pastis and gin distillation workshops, lasting about 2.5 hours. More information.

Visit & tasting of a whiskey production (40 min) : The ERGASTER distillery invites you to explain the entire Whisky production process to you from harvesting the barley to bottling. Duration: 2 hours. Group: 6 to 12 people. Price: €15/person. More information.
